The Old Covenant Passover (Exodus 12)

Passover was on the 14th day of the first month of the sacred calendar; twilight

They sacrificed unblemished lambs and their flesh had to be eaten.

Not one bone was broken and the lambs were slaughtered.

God promised an “everlasting” sacrifice.

Three requirements for death to “passover” in the Old Testament

1. Sacrifice, 2. Eat the flesh, 3. Sprinkle blood.

It was blood from lambs that conquered death; all three commands had to be followed.

God required blood to be sprinkled on two doorpost and the lintel of each house for death to passover.

If they sacrificed the lamb but “did not” sprinkle blood, death would have entered the house.

These were commands put in place by God, not man.

New Covenant Passover

Passover was on the 14th day of the first month of the sacred calendar; twilight

They sacrificed unblemished lamb (Jesus) and their flesh had to be eaten. 53,54,56

Not one bone was broken and the Jesus was slaughtered.

An “everlasting” sacrifice offered daily.

This daily sacrifice is “not” Jesus’ bloody body from the cross. That was “once” and for all. The sacrifice today is of his “resurrected heavenly body.”

Three requirements for death to “passover” in the New Testament

1. Sacrifice, 2. Eat his flesh, 3. Consume his blood.

Jesus commands us to eat his flesh and drink his blood or death or enter within you. 53,54,56

It is the blood of Jesus that conquered death; all three commands have to be followed.

These were commands put in place by God, not man.

Life of all flesh is its blood (LV 17:14). Eternal life is in Jesus’ blood.
